The agreement, signed at the 6th EU Summit Brazil at the Presidential Palace in Brasilia last week, will mean a regular exchange of information and technical co-operation between the two countries in order to improve livestock farming systems, from birth to slaughter.
The protocol was originally developed by Brazil’s Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply (MAPA), in collaboration with the Department of Inspection of Animal Products (DIPOA/SDA).
MAPA said it would help Brazilian meat producers reach the animal welfare standards demanded by EU importers.
