Kraft Foods Inc. has gone to court in its battle for market share in the frozen pizza business, accusing Schwan's Sales Enterprises of stealing trade secrets by hiring a corporate spy to gain information about Kraft's marketing plans. The lawsuit filed asserts that Schwan's wrongly obtained trade secrets by hiring a Kraft consultant with intimate knowledge of the firm's marketing strategies. Schwan's officials declined to comment on the lawsuit. Kraft and Schwan's are the top two pizza retailers in the US, fierce competitors whose combined annual sales in the category are about $1.75 billion. The frozen pizza market accounted for $2.4 billion in sales last year.
