China is likely to sign an agreement this weekend that will open the way for more Thai agricultural exports into its vast market, reports The Nation. Chinese Prime Minister Zhu Rongji will be in Thailand on May 19th, and a memorandum of understanding may be signed to allow more Thai exports into China. Deputy Prime Minister Pitak Intrawityanunt said he was sure an agreement would be signed before Zhu leaves on May 22nd. Pitak said if a proposed agreement were ratified, Thailand would receive a quota for 400,000 tons of rice, 200,000 tons of rubber and 2,000 tons of dried longans.
