The Australian Dairy Corporation recently announced that the latest tender from the Agriculture and Livestock Industry Corporation of Japan (ALIC) has resulted in Australian processors securing contracts for 1,170 tonnes of Super A Grade skim milk powder. Australian exporters achieved around 35 per cent of the total tender, of contracts valued at nearly A$6.0 million in total. "Japan is one of the world's largest importers of skim milk powder, averaging over 70,000 tonnes per annum over the past five years," said Sandy Murdoch, the Managing Director of the Australian Dairy Corporation. "We are seeing a strong demand for skim milk powder from countries free from foot-and-mouth disease, like Australia," said Mr Murdoch. " The total value of all Australian dairy exports is currently running at more than A$2.5 billion per annum, " he continued.
