The NPD Group, Inc., a marketing consulting group, has launched its new Web-based resource for the foodservice industry, NPDFoodworld(SM). With NPDFoodworld, NPD will gather and deliver comprehensive industry information on the Internet. The new service will offer secure access to updated market information and analysis and will provide access to third-party links and feeds through a personalised site. NPD claims that NPDFoodworld will combine information on foodservice behavioural trends with insight on consumer attitudes from the same consumers, delivered on an ongoing basis, to understand what and why target consumers are buying. The site can also be personalised to respond to specific needs. "We are leveraging the Internet to give our subscribers a real competitive advantage," said Cathy Wilson, vice president of NPDFoodworld. "The industry has long relied on NPD information for fact-based decision making. Now the Internet is allowing us to expand the breadth and depth of our market intelligence. We are collecting information from more people on a more frequent basis to deliver greater detail by market segment, census region and demographic group.
