The technology-enabling holding company Advanced Technology Industries Inc. has formed a wholly owned subsidiary, RESEAL Ltd., to commercialise its proprietary "RESEAL-able" packaging systems technology. The patented system for re-sealing "pop-top" cans for both soft drinks and beer has completed development and is ready for commercial introduction. ATI has entered into a marketing agreement with The Falcon Group, a European-based marketing consulting firm for the beverage industry. Based upon responses received by the Falcon Group from European beer companies, ATI should soon be producing, in co-operation with the Swiss company designing and manufacturing aluminium cans Steyner + Bienz, its first 10,000 machine produced samples. Initial production runs of samples will be completed within the next five months. This cooperation led to a plan for the development and manufacture of the required machinery to produce the RESEAL-able beverage can insert to replace the current "pop-top" lid into any rolled aluminium can. The current annual production of aluminium beverage cans in the world is 500 billion. ATI has substantially re-engineered the last generation in order to retain carbonation, and, in the process, developed a system that permits recycling, and substitutes plastic for some functions. This has resulted in a dramatic decrease in production costs. ATI believes that a successful market penetration would have a substantial impact upon future revenues.
