A cow was found infected with bovine spongiform encephalopathy (BSE) in Ringsted, Denmark, the Danish Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Fisheries said on August 22. A five-year-old dairy cow was diagnosed with BSE in a routine check-up on a cattle farm in Ringsted, on August 9 by Denmark's veterinary and anti-epidemic authorities. The cow was slaughtered after it tested positive. The cattle farm was isolated after the new case was found, and the herd will be slaughtered and burned to prevent a further spread of the disease. It is the fourth BSE case reported in Denmark since February last year.
