Global starch and nutrition specialist National Starch this week announced the addition of Novelose 260 to its portfolio of resistant starches. "This is the third generation of our resistant starches," Mike Croghan, Global Business Director of Nutrition, National Starch told FoodNavigator.com. "It has been designed to give more value for the customer with 50 per cent more dietary fibre than the second generation products," Croghan continued. Novelose 260, an enzyme and process tolerant starch with a total dietary fibre content of 60 per cent, can be used by food manufacturers to develop a wide range of products with a "high fibre" or "rich in fibre" label. National Starch stated that the new resistant starch has a very low water-holding capacity, contributes good texture/mouthfeel and improves cell structure. It has a neutral taste and is white in appearance. "Novelose 260 is part of National Starch's on-going development programme that started in the 1990's. We will be launching this new resistant starch product at the FiE show in early November." Mike Croghan concluded.
