ADM Cocoa, a leading processor of cocoa beans, has acquired part of the cocoa assets of Sifca, the Ivory Coast's main trader and producer of cocoa, coffee and sugar. The acquisition includes three cocoa conditioning and storage plants and its Unicao cocoa processing facility. Commenting on the acquisition, Wim Groenenboom, Managing Director, ADM Cocoa International said, "ADM Cocoa can deliver consistent top quality products by control of its raw materials, through vertically integrated processing at its facilities in Europe, South America, USA, Asia and now Africa, to the point of delivery to customers worldwide." In a year which has seen global supply tighten due to a disappointing cocoa bean crop yield alongside burgeoning world demand, ADM Cocoahopes that its latest acquisition can ensure security of supply of its Ivory Coast origin cocoa cakes, liquor and butter to customers worldwide. The company claims that by having a foothold in The Ivory Coast, it is in a good position to give the farmers a fair price for their cocoa beans. ADM Cocoa's global network of companies supplies the confectionery, bakery, cereals, dairy and dry mix industries worldwide with tailor-made cocoa powders.
