The European Commission this week authorised the introduction of a new additive into feedstuffs.
Following the examination of dossiers relating to the use of sodium ferrocyanide and potassium ferrocyanide as anti-caking agents in feedstuffs, the European Commission has granted authorisation for their use until 1 March 2006.
Similarly, authorisation has been granted to the use of the micro-organism Toyocerin in chickens for fattening, laying hens, calves, cattle for fattening, breeding does, rabbits for fattening, piglets and sows. There is no time limit for the authorisation for piglets and sows, but the other authorisations expire on 7 October 2004.
This new additive authorisation follows the Regulation (EC) No 256/2002 concerning the provisional authorisation of new additives, the prolongation of provisional authorisation of an additive and the permanent authorisation of an additive in feedingstuffs.
