Mondi Packaging UK's Great Yarmouth site has been awarded Silver in the Anglo American CEO competition for outstanding performance in occupational safety.
As part of the international conglomerate Anglo American awarded Mondi Packaging its first ever CEO award in the Small Business category, beating similar sized businesses in the Anglo American fold worldwide.
In addition, Mondi Packaging Coalville reached the final stages of the international competition, receiving a Commendation.
Anglo America's chief executive officer Tony Trahar was impressed with Mondi Packaging Great Yarmouth's enviable record of 872 consecutive days without a lost-time injury, and attributed its success to the site's leadership and commitment.
Receiving the award at the Chairman's Dinner in Johannesburg, South Africa, Mondi Packaging Great Yarmouth MD Dave Seed said:"To gain Silver against international competition is an exceptional achievement and rewards the commitment and attention that Mondi Packaging Great Yarmouth pays to safety at work. As with the rest of Mondi Packaging (UK) we promote health and safety issues as the highest priority, with all staff involved in making sure that accidents of any kind are kept to an absolute minimum."
Mark Cockburn, Health and Safety manager for Mondi Packaging (UK) commented: "Health and Safety issues are at the top of our agenda across all Mondi sites, and we are delighted that two of our factories have been recognised on the international stage.
