Food companies figure prominently in a new survey of the most admired companies in New Zealand. Out of the top ten places, five were devoted to food businesses, the NFO/Porter Novelli report reveals.
According to news report on NZCity.com, Warehouse, the discount retailer moved into the top slot with a score of 7.3 out of a possible ten. This is the same ranking it received when the survey was last carried out in 1999.
Cereal maker Hubbard's achieved number two, while its larger rival Sanitarium is fifth. Confectionery giant, Cadbury Confectionary came third.
The survey shows that the Warehouse is most popular with people over 50 and couples with no children at home. Cadbury's rates well with the younger set and is the most admired company among 18-29 year olds.
Other companies featuring in the report include Air New Zealand, which has dropped from second place in 1999 to 18th this time around. Sky Television registered the most impressive rise, moving up 7.8 per cent from 5.1 points in 1999 to 5.8 in 2002.
The report claims that survey participants admire the top companies because of a consistent level of quality service and products, because they are involved in the community, are perceived to be a local company and have a reputation as a good employer.
