Loma Systems, the UK-based leading global manufacturer of X-ray systems, checkweighers and metal detectors aimed at the food and beverage industry, will be displaying its new checkweigher range at the forthcoming CFIA 2003 to be held in Rennes, France, next month.
At the event Loma will be launching a new range of checkweighers for packaged products, which it claims will be the most accurate, reliable and robust on the market. Available as a stand-alone checkweigher or in combination with a metal detector head, the Loma AS range is a modular system that is said to balance the need for a tailor-made solution with ease of maintenance and cost control. A choice of transport options ensures high speed processing and accurate readings for products up to 45kg in weight.
A key benefit of the AS range is said to be its user-friendly and safety-conscious design. Unlike tower systems on the market, Loma has positioned the control unit at waist level at the front of the conveyor, which leads to greater machine stability and therefore improves weighing accuracy. This also means that the operator does not have to lean across the conveyor at any time, the company claims.
Loma has collaborated with Hottinger Baldwin Messtechnik (HBM) of Darmstadt on the development of a new weighing transducer for the AS range, which has resulted in the achievement of R51 approval - the European standard for automatic weighing machines - with an extremely high accuracy rating.
The introduction of this specially developed FIT (Fast Intelligent Transducer) digital loadcell has also opened new avenues in terms of weighing speed and accuracy. Both Loma and HBM are wholly owned subsidiairies of Spectris, the specialist technology-based instrumentation and electronics controls company.
Loma will also be previewing a number of other technologies at the show, including a data management solution for checkweighers, a new metal detector and the latest development in its X-ray technology.
