US company Sensor Wireless has launched a quality system called CrackLess Egg Pro which is said to offer increased quality control for egg producers

The CrackLess Egg is an acrylic egg, designed to mimic a real Grade A egg, which works alongside a handheld computer or laptop computer. Using patented real-time wireless technology, it instantly detects harmful aspects in egg handling operations.

The CrackLess Egg runs directly through the system alongside real eggs, identifying abuse points and reporting location and magnitude of abuse instantly to the user in real time. The user immediately sees the effect equipment is having on the eggs, where it occurs and if in fact it is problematic and requires attention.

Sensor Wireless is also developing what the company hopes will be a tremendous boost to the industry for transport monitoring of packaged goods.

The company is currently working with Florida-based FreshTrak Systems to offer a system which can track not just location and static temperature (that is, installed in one position on the container itself) but also carton or package temperature, as well as carton/package impact/vibration characteristics, while monitoring where damage may be occurring.

The company claims that through this joint venture, the technology could revolutionise prevention of transport and freight losses and drastically improve the monitoring.

FreshTrak was founded in February 2001 by Wayne DuBois.

"We are excited to work with Freshtrak. We believe that this new application will pay big dividends to those companies currently experiencing losses in transport of goods and fragile articles," said Sensor Wireless president, Wayd McNally.
