Chadwicks of Bury, the UK's largest heat seal, pre-cut lid manufacturer, has received approval from the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for its state of the art lidding manufacturing facility.
The FDA approval process consists of a rigorous sanitation survey and the return of favourable results obtained from microbiological testing of product samples, which was carried out by Packaging Consultants International, New York.
Chadwicks now joins a select group of "Foreign Manufacturers" on the FDA Interstate Milk Shippers (IMS) List of Single Service Containers and Closures for Milk and Milk Products.
FDA Approval follows hot on the heels of Certification to the BRC/IoP Packaging Standard for Chadwicks, which it achieved in November 2002.
John Chadwick, managing director, stated: "We have always taken a proactive approach to food packaging hygiene to support our customers due diligence systems. In partnership with customers, suppliers and employees we have over many years developed our systems to satisfy the exacting requirements of our global customers."
He continued, "It's immensely pleasing for us that our quality, hygiene and technical systems are now robust enough to satisfy the requirements of demanding standards such as The BRC/IoP Packaging Standard and FDA Approval."
Chadwicks is the UK's largest heat seal, pre-cut lid manufacturer. It provides an innovative range of lidding products to the food, dairy, pharmaceutical and beverage industries world-wide. Its lidding range and many of its plastic alternatives to foil are currently sold on a global basis.
