Fortitech upgrades production of nutritional food additives

Fortitech Europe, part of the global network of international companies of Fortitech, has begun transferring production operations from its facility in Niløse, Denmark, to its new facility in Gadstrup, outside of Copenhagen.

The transfer to the new state-of-the-art facility will be complete by the end of February, and is designed to take advantage of growing consumer concern for the nutritional value of food.

Indeed, functional foods are expected to be the most successful healthy food product of the future, with key products including probiotics, energy-boosting foods and vitamin and mineral supplements.

"Moving to this new facility is another example of Fortitech's commitment to being the leading technical and manufacturing resource in Europe for food, drink and supplement fortification," said Walt Borisenok, president of Fortitech.

The new manufacturing and laboratory space is exclusively dedicated to nutrient premix manufacturing and contains a high-tech laboratory for developing and testing premixes.

"This new facility will dramatically expand our manufacturing efficiencies and our ability to offer customers flexible batch sizes, faster turnaround times, as well as increased technical support," said Jens Skytte Sørensen, managing director of Fortitech Europe.

Fortitech claims that its nutrient systems offer numerous benefits to manufacturers. First, they streamline the production process because a nutrient system is a single source of multiple nutrients.

In addition, nutrient systems allow for greater consistency, and issues like product taste and texture can be addressed early in the development stage rather than on the production line. Finally, premixes help manufacturers develop products to better serve market segments (e.g. seniors or women) and particular consumer health interests, such as digestive or heart health.

As a result, manufacturers can save on the labour, cost and inconsistencies that go with adding one nutrient at a time.

The design of the Gadstrup facility is modeled after Fortitech's ISO 9001:2000 certified manufacturing facilities in Schenectady, New York and Campinas, Brazil. The plant is designed according to the most recent guidelines on hygienic designs as established by government and health organisations for good hygienic, manufacturing and laboratory practices.

It features Fortitech's new state-of-the-art blending equipment and has the capability of supplying custom premixes in liquid or powder form that can comply with Kosher and Halal standards. Fortitech also provides GMO-free premixes.

The new facility will serve markets in Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

Fortitech Europe is part of the global network of manufacturing and distribution companies of Fortitech, a global leader in the development of custom nutrient systems for the food and beverage industries. Located in Gadstrup, Denmark, the company is exclusively dedicated to the manufacture of nutrient premixes.
