Roquette achieves ISO 22000 certification

French firm Roquette claims to be the first European starch manufacturer to achieve ISO 22000 certification.

The company was awarded the certification from the BVQI (Bureau Veritas Quality International) for its production of maize starches at its Lestrem site in northern France.

Changing international trade rules and increasing demands from consumers have made food safety a major concern for food sector players. ISO 22000 is the only international standard unifying food safety management practices.

Certification of the company as a Supplier of Reliable Products is therefore a guarantee to customers that the Lille-based company is fully compliant with food safety regulations.

The certification covers the safety of foodstuffs for customers and consumers, the reliability of risk analyses and mastery of processes and compliance with European regulatory health requirements.

It also covers easy food chain level communications.

Roquette is one of Europe's largest starch and starch-derivatives business. The firm is a world leader for polyols (sugar alcohols).
