Based in Atlanta, Georgia, InnoSweet will supply the food industry with speciality sweeteners, including polyols, intensive sweeteners, special sugars and soluble fibers.
The four primary products the firm currently markets are sucralose, Acesulfame K, xylitol and erythritol.
A subsidiary of Europe's second-largest sugar producer Nordzucker AG, InnoSweet was established two years ago and already serves the European and Asian markets.
This is the company's first entry into the North American market.
"Demand for these products is growing at a rapid pace, and we can't ignore the North American market as it's a large part of this business. We feel we will fill a very good niche for all markets that use these products," said Carl Moogalian, who is heading up the new US office.
The company said that in the food industry, it is particularly targeting bakery dairy and confectionery firms.
The firm offers customers tailor-made ingredients for their specific needs, and is backed by an in-house R&D department.
It is backward-integrated into its own production through collaborations and joint ventures in both Europe and Asia. A central Quality Management department coordinates all quality-related subjects at the production sites, it said.
