Loma launches X-ray, metal detection systems
Loma X4 X-ray SideShoot is designed to inspect vertically oriented packages and products and is ideal for items that are taller than they are wide. The unit can inspect more than 600ppm and can easily be integrated into high-speed lines.
Highly sensitive detection
Loma X4 FinePitch has been devised for processors seeking highly sensitive detection functions for difficult applications such as tiny chicken bone fragments. It incorporates fine grain image processing, aided by diode arrays, which amplifies its ability to find contaminants that other machines cannot detect.
Simon Spencer, managing director of Loma Systems, said: “Our new X4 range of X-ray systems offers comprehensive and versatile inspection that has proven itself as a sound investment, both for brand protection and to meet the stringent demands of retailers.
“Our new products are designed with high reliability in mind to ensure that production quality is not compromised while offering cutting edge inspection technology.”
Metal detector
The IQ3+ PipeLine metal detector has been designed to work best with pumped liquid and semi-liquid products such as jams, soups, sausage meat or pate. It has been created to minimize waste and meet the major multiples’ requirements for failsafe rejection.
The kit has height adjustment ranges between 930mm to 1210mm, and lockable wheels so it can be moved easily by a single operator. It can be calibrated while in production and can avoid false rejects by automatically compensating for fluctuations in product temperature and clumping.
Loma Systems research and development manager David Phillips said the IQ3+ PipeLine was a breakthrough for the company because it allowed firms to detect smaller metal contaminants with a minimum measurement of 0.8mm. “The IQ3+ PipeLine introduces variable frequency technology into the pipeline arena, which essentially provides better sensitivity,” said Phillips.
