New company to bring innovation to meat processing

Vitiva has formed a partnership to launch a new company targeting the meat processing sector

FutureMeat will offer meat and poultry manufacturers a range of natural, custom-made blends for clean-label meat applications.

“We will be launching several natural products targeted at specific sectors of the meat industry,” Ohad Cohen, CEO of Vitiva, told Food Navigator. “Our products will be phosphate free, thus offering an innovative and natural way of treating meat.”

FutureMeat will also offer a consultancy service, auditing processors’ current production techniques and offering advice on how to reduce costs, increase yield, reach higher production efficacy without compromising on quality.

Cohen believes that by combining natural solutions and innovative techniques, FutureMeat will offer something which is not currently available to the meat processing industry.

“The meat industry is usually very conservative. We believe that the natural solutions and equipment we are bringing to the sector will have a big impact on the quality and taste of meat,” he said.

Vitiva and Johannes Arason will initially hold equal shares in the company, which will be based in Holland. Arason is also an owner of Icelandic natural ingredients company Food Quality Inc. Cohen added that FutureMeat has been keeping the details of its products under wraps, but will revealing more “very soon.”

Vitiva already supplies a range of natural extracts and clean label preservatives for use in meat-processing. Food Quality Inc specializes in formulation of herb extracts with applications in the fish industry.
