Evira prepares for food risk focus

Finland’s Evira is preparing for its Finnish Food Conference on 4 May, which will address issues of food risk assessment, risk management and risk communication.

The Finnish food safety authority says the worldwide increase in food production and food trade also increases risks – which means risk assessment has also taken on more significance.

The one-day conference is organised by the Finnish Food Research Foundation and will take place at the Helsinki Exhibition and Convention Centre.

It is expected to be attended by Finnish and international experts; although the programme is geared towards Finland, it will also look at cooperation with the EU. Presentations will be made not only by Evira personnel, but also by EFSA and European Commission representatives.

Themes include chemical risks from food and water, environmental toxins from fish, and Finnish grain.
