Before the UK general election, the Conservative party indicated that they would cleave the the Food Standard Agency in two, leaving it with food safety work but sending all public health responsibilities to the Department of Health - to be renamed the Department of Public Health. Now the Conservatives are in power, albeit in a coalition, Sue Davies, chief policy advisor at Which?, shares her views about whether this change is really necessary and the importance of maintaining transparency.
