Univar explains ingredients with sample boxes

Ingredients distributor Univar has launched a new procedure for explaining to customers and potential customers the tastes, textures and colours they can achieve, by sending them boxes of sample product concepts.

The company says the idea is especially well suited to health and wellness products. The boxes are being developed by Univar’s team at its food laboratory in Brussels, and will contain drinks and cookies made with enzymes, clear proteins, colours, sweeteners and fibres.

They will be accompanied by nutritional and recipe information.

“There are over 100 product samples from which the Univar sales representative can select the most appropriate ones to address the customer’s needs. The most in-demand products are currently low sugar, low fat and high fibre ingredients,” Simon Atkins, Sales and Marketing Manager for Univar’s Food Ingredients business in EMEA.
