Fenchem cheers rosemary antioxidant approval

Fenchem is expecting the EU approval of rosemary extract as an antioxidant to give it a major helping hand to bigger sales in the EU.

The Chinese supplier, which has an EU base in the Czech Republic, obtained EU and US organic certification for its extract in early 2010, but says sales were limited because it could only be used as a flavouring.

Fenchem claims its competitive price and fast delivery are two keys for our successful development in EU market.

The antioxidant approval is only for extracts that meet the purity standards drawn up by the European Rosemary Extract Manufacturers Group (Naturex, Raps and Robertet). It covers solvent extracts not water extracts because the latter have high levels of rosmaric acid. Solvent-based extracts have high levels of carnosic acid and carnosol.
