Conference line-up
The program will kick off with an overview of the weight management sector from Tom Vierhile from Datamonitor and Roberta Re from Leatherhead Food Research, and asks the question: What does today’s data say about tomorrow’s weight management market?
Next we tackle satiety, and whether the industry is still pursuing it or shifting its focus elsewhere. Sandra ten Bruggencate from NIZO will present her opinion.
We then explore the potential, and often controversial, role of dairy in weight management, and Prof Michael Zemel from the University of Tennessee, a world renowned scientist in this field, will give his opinion on the state of the science and what the bioactives may be.
Next we look at consumer confidence. Which products work and which ones don’t? How carefully is this market regulated? And what can be done to protect consumers… but also protect responsible companies suffering by association every time a miracle weight loss product turns out to be a big scam?
Addressing this topic will be Dr Duffy MacKay, VP of scientific and regulatory affairs at the Council for Responsible Nutrition.
Last but not least, we cover the crucial topic of botanicals, and who better to give us an independent, authoritative, and responsible overview than Mark Blumenthal, founder & executive director of the American Botanical Council?
Weight Management 2011 opens its virtual doors on Wednesday at 9am Eastern Time (New York).
