Commission backs German firm Saria's bid to acquire meat companies

The European Commission has approved the bid by German company Saria Bio-Industries for joint control over Dutch group Teeuwissen Holding and Spanish company, Jagero II.

Saria, part of the privately-owned Rethmann Group, recycles and manages animal, vegetable and agricultural by-products for human and animal consumption.

Teeuwissen, based in the Netherlands, and Jagero II, a Spanish holding company, are both active in the commercialisation of meat and the purchase and processing of abattoir by-products (ABPs) for use in the production of casings for sausages and other products.
