Breaking News: Tillmann steps down from Vion

Vion boss Uwe Tillmann has stepped down from his role with the company, the meat giant has announced.

In a statement, Vion said that Tillmann, who has been ceo and chairman of the executive board since 2010, left the business on 3 September and his tasks and responsibilities will be taken over by Dirk Kloosterboer with immediate effect.

Formerly vice-chairman, Kloosterboer will “take charge of the accelerated and broader implementation of the strategic action plan” the statement said.

The strategic plan, which is aimed at ensuring the company’s recovery of results, was announced on 15 June, 2012.

The statement added: “The Supervisory Board has every confidence that this adjustment to the management will ensure the successful implementation of VION’s strategic vision.”

Commenting on Tillmann's departure, a spokesman for Vion said: "The Supervisory Board has observed that the accelerated and broader implementation of the strategic vision as communicated on 15 June 2012 required a different type of leadership and different characteristics than those offered by the ceo."
