Sirane, which is based in Shropshire, has opened the new plant in the Turkish port city of Antalya. The company said this would enable it to significantly increase business in Turkey and neighbouring countries.
Sirane managing director Simon Balderson said: “Turkey has a large population and a large food industry, so it is the perfect location for Sirane to open a new base.
“It will help Sirane push into Turkey, the Middle East, North Africa and north into Russia and Ukraine. Antalya’s location as a Mediterranean port, close to some of the country’s most fertile food production areas, is perfect for us.”
Located in a purpose-built site in the Antalya Organised Zone at Döşemealtı, Sirane Turkey will mirror the company’s UK business, manufacturing products including odour-absorbing meat pads and shelf-life extending bags and films.
Sirane Turkey’s managing director Taşkın Öztaş said: “I am delighted Sirane Turkey has now begun trading. We have now taken on sales staff, and are looking forward to taking Sirane’s innovative food packaging products to new markets.
“Turkey is very proud of its huge food production industry, and Sirane can help Turkish companies export further and further afield with confidence, as well as helping establish the company in regions where Sirane is currently not doing business.”
Sirane recently opened offices in Cape Town, South Africa and Dubai. It said it was looking to open a manufacturing and warehousing facility in Southern Africa “at the first available opportunity”.
