GPS develops meat export catalogue

UK exporter GPS Food Group has launched a new meat export catalogue to help increase sales in Europe, Asia, Africa and the Caribbean.

The company, which formed an export partnership with UK processor Woodhead Brothers in November last year and now offers 60 individual product lines, launched the catalogue at Sial 2012 in Paris last week.

Developed in conjunction with UK meat levy bodies Eblex and Bpex, the catalogue offers detailed product specifications, as well as images of the cuts, packaging and labels. It has been translated into five languages, including Mandarin for products exported to China, and features details of the UK Red Tractor assurance scheme and animal welfare guarantees.

Ryan Williams, business development director at GPS Food Group said: “We now have an extensive beef, pork and lamb product range and sales are growing across an increasingly global customer base. The Export Catalogue is an important milestone and will assist the further development of our market and customer bases.”

John Cross, chairman of Eblex said: “This is a great example of the huge efforts that have gone into the export sales development of UK meat, which has resulted in a significant increase in sales volumes across a number of markets.”

GPS Food Group director Padraig McCarthy told Globalmeatnews.com that the catalogue would soon be uploaded to the company’s new website, allowing customers to browse remotely.
