Meat recalled due to labelling error
The US Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced the class III recall of the 79,400 pounds of the meat this week.
The problem was discovered by FSIS personnel during a Food Safety Assessment and affects items produced on various dates through 16 January.
Products subject to recall include 10-oz. packages and bulk packages of Korean Brand BBQ Flavored Spicy Pork Butt, 10-oz packages and bulk packages of Marinated Spicy Pork Butt and 10-oz. packages and bulk packages of Korean Brand BBQ Flavored Spicy Boneless Chicken Leg Meat.
MSG is a sub-ingredient in the spice blend used to make the product and both the FSIS and the California-based company said they have received no reports of adverse reactions to the consumption of the products.
