Nestlé opens €50m German pizza factory
Nestlé has opened a €50m pizza factory in Germany as part of an effort to strengthen its expertise in chilled and frozen foods, the company has said.
The factory, in Nonnweiler, Otzenhausen, will make Wagner-branded products such as Big Pizza, Die Backfrischer, and Piccolinis, creating about 50 jobs.
“This is the most advanced production line for frozen pizza in Europe,” said Nestlé’s chief technology officer Werner Bauer. “Our investment here has enabled us to continue delivering innovations such as Die Backfrische, which focuses on fresh ingredients and has been one of the most successful pizza frozen launches in recent years.”
