Hot dog manufacturer faces $53k OSHA fine
Hot dog manufacturer Vienna Beef faces a $53,000 fine for 10 Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) safety violations in Chicago.
The US Department of Labor carried out an inspection of the site in May this year and said it found ‘serious safety protocols’ which could result in ‘physical harm’ or ‘death’.
The violations included deficient energy control procedures, a lack of safety training, an absence of machine guards and a poorly maintained walking surface.
Rhonda Burke, a spokeswoman for the US Department of Labor in Chicago said a review will be carried out with Vienna Beef on September 19 to address the OSHA violations.
