New ingredient developments 'start with the consumer': Arla

In response to ever-increasing demand for value-added dairy products, ingredient suppliers have been forced to refresh the way they develop and market their products, Arla Foods Ingredients told DairyReporter.com.

According to Aleksandra Dzakovic, consumer insights manager at Arla Foods Ingredients, all of the company's newest products and concepts can be traced back to research on consumer demand.

"Within the industry, there has been a very big change in the last few years, whereby everything really does start with the consumer," said Dzakovic. "We don't just sell a product."

"You start by the consumer and consumer trends and then develop that into a concept, then develop that into an end product responding to the concept. Then you would obviously suggest ingredients that fit into the product in a way that can develop it best," she added.
