Bunzl spends almost £300m on acquisitions

Bunzl has revealed three more deals to take its 2013 acquisition spending to almost £300m.

The Company acquired SAS Safety Corp, in California, pka Klöcker GmbH in Germany and De Santis Distribuição Industrial Ltda in Brazil.

SAS Safety Corp works in sourcing and selling own label personal protection equipment, such as safety gloves, to distributors.

Revenue in the year ended 31 December 2013 is expected to be US$48m.

Pka Klöcker GmbH in Düsseldorf sells personal protection equipment, such as own label workwear, to distributors. Revenue in the year ended 31 December 2013 is expected to be €6m.

De Santis Distribuição Industrial Ltda, based near São Paulo, markets personal protection equipment to end user customers in different market sectors.

Revenue in the year ended 31 December 2013 is expected to be R$18m.

Michael Roney, chief executive of Bunzl, said the acquisitions represent further investment in the safety sector.

“The purchase of SAS Safety is an important development for Bunzl as it is a significant and strategic addition to our safety business in North America.

“The acquisition of pka Klöcker also extends our existing safety operations in Germany following the acquisition of Majestic in 2011, while De Santis is the fifth business which we have acquired in the safety sector in Brazil since the acquisition of Prot Cap in 2008.”
