Vion establishes new management board

Dutch meat giant Vion has announced a new management board which features an international team of experts across a broad range of fields.

Chaired by the Vion Food Group CEO Michiel Herkemij, the board comes into effect from 1 April and will be tasked with achieving the company’s "new direction and future",​ Vion said in a statement.

It said: "The management board will be made up of eight people and will have final responsibility for controlling all food activities in the Netherlands and Germany. The board will control these business activities centrally."

The team is made up of international experts in fields such as finance, HR, supply chain management, production and processing. Members include: Godert Tegelberg, who will be the COO of BU Pork, Bernd Stark, COO of BU Food Service, Bernd Stange, COO of BU Beef, Hans Gorter, chief human resources officer and Ton-Tijn Tulleners, who will be group controller. The remaining vacancies will be filled shortly, the company added.

Meanwhile, the company has announced that Peter Beckers, an executive board member for 15 years, will be stepping down. Beckers was responsible for various food and ingredients activities, Vion said.
