International retail meat packing business Hilton Food Group has put in a steady performance across the global markets it operates in, according to its latest interim management statement.

Reporting on the trading period from 30 December 2013 to date, the business said it had benefited from introducing new product lines to the Dutch market last year, although the region was subject to difficult macro-economic conditions.

Development work to renew facilities and extend capacity at is site in Sweden were "proceeding as anticipated", said the group. Meanwhile, development work by its joint venture at Victoria in Australia was proceeding on schedule, with construction well under way, it added.

The group said its financial position remained strong, with capital expenditure in both the UK and Sweden resulting in an expected increase in debt levels.
