DNAble was certified for primary production samples, environmental samples for food or feed production, and pet food and animal feed.
The system is an isothermal nucleic acid amplification technology that can enlarge DNA targets with single base resolution a billion-fold in five to 10 minutes at a constant temperature.
A nicking enzyme and a strand-displacing polymerase are used to generate small pieces of DNA that feed a DNA extension reaction; it consists of alternating cycles of nicking and extension processes leading to amplification, said the firm.
Jennine Cannizzo, director of molecular diagnostics, said the isothermal technology is a ‘game-changer’.
“It eliminates the time-consuming thermocycling step of traditional PCR systems while providing comparable performance.
“One-step enrichment, enabled by extremely robust chemistry, isolates and amplifies Salmonella bacteria in very crude samples without additional purification steps. This directly translates to a significant cost and time savings for the end user.”
