PTI focuses on non-destructive methods to inspect packaging for food companies and other industries. Its offerings include leak detection; and packaging, seal, and container closure integrity testing.
Inspection services
Michelle Wolf, marketing communications manager for PTI, told FoodProductionDaily food firms turn to the firm looking for ways to ensure long shelf life and product safety.
“Companies are searching for improved methods to test their packaging to insure the seals are defect free and the package is leak free/defect free to ensure the shelf life of the product and safety of the contents inside,” she said.
Shared concerns
The New York-based company services companies around the globe; Wolf said that with some occasional, minor differences, food firms in different countries share similar concerns.
“Most companies face the same challenges in all countries,” she said. “Sometimes it depends on the regulatory guidelines, such as the FDA and if it affects products being produced in other countries.”
Equipment PTI showcased at the recent Interpack event include the VeriPak leak detection line, and the Seal-Sensor pouch inspection line. It offers units for inspecting filled/sealed bottles, lidded trays/cups, pouches, stick packs, sachets, and other packaging formats.
Because PTI's technologies allow inspection without destruction, clients can choose to save packages for further testing or send them to market.
