High and dry: Mettler Toledo moisture analyzer designed for ease of use
The HE53 moisture analyzer is an entry-level machine for food quality officers and other staff looking for an easy-to-use system with basic features.
Functional and frugal
Moisture analyzer product manager Claas Boerger told FoodProductionDaily the unit delivers the basic but reliable functionality many food operations require.
“The real challenge was to strip that back to just the basic functionality that customers need, at a price that everyone can afford, without compromising our high standards for quality,” he said.
The HE53 reportedly provides results in just a few minutes. It is intended to serve as an entry-level machine, so that smaller operations with limited financial resources to expend on high-end equipment can still get the moisture testing they need.
Operator ease
The instrument provides graphic guidance on its display, guiding users through the three-step process. First, the operator tares the empty weighing pan; then, the sample is added and spread evenly, and the user presses the ‘start’ button.
Moisture content results are displayed, indicating if the product being tested is within the preset process tolerances, or if adjustments are needed. The process of testing reportedly saves time and cuts on wasted product.
The machine is said to use advanced halogen drying technology and high-performance weighing unit to ensure accuracy. The system’s heavy-duty construction is designed to take a beating in the laboratory, or out on the factory floor if needed.
