The problem was discovered by the company after a sister establishment noticed bloated packages and alerted them.
The plant determined that the increased water activity is due to “an undetected process deviation.”
The firm said the product met all critical limits during production and it has determined that it is a quality control issue and not a food safety hazard.
The Smokey Sweet BBQ Style Chicken Strips in 3, 5.75 and 16 oz. film bags were first produced on May 14 and last packaged on July 28.
The Spicy Buffalo Style Chicken Strips in 2.75, 3, 5.75, 9 and 16 oz. film bags were first produced on May 16 and last packaged on August 6.
Product was sent to retail establishments nationwide as well as internet sales.
