Ireland launches Beef Pricewatch app
Developed for use on smartphones, tablet computers and other mobile devices, the app will provide users with information on the average price paid for animals from 24 of the DAFM-approved meat factories in the country.
Simon Coveney, minister for agriculture, food and the marine, said: "This app takes much of the existing price information already available and makes it more user-friendly.
"This information on prevailing price trends means Ireland is now one of the most transparent EU member states when it comes to providing accessible information on prevailing price trends."
The app, which was one of the key commitments made by the minister at its Beef Roundtable earlier this year, is available to Irish beef producers, as well as the wider food sector.
