Birko has partnered with Garden Cut to develop best practice sanitation procedures.

The firm worked with the specialty division of Indianapolis Fruit to improve peracetic acid (PAA) dispensing through a more controlled pumping and monitoring mechanism.

It also provided sanitation products such as CL33, a liquid self-foaming, chlorinated cleaner intended for use in high silicate water and 10-Chlor, an EPA-registered 10% sodium hypochlorite bleach for cleaning and sanitizing.

Fomacid, a concentrated, self-foaming acid cleaner used once monthly to flip the environment and lower the PH, Way-Vos, a low foaming, heavy duty liquid alkaline CIP cleaner containing water conditioners, wetting agents and corrosion inhibitors and Quadra-Quat, a 7.5% active, four-way quaternary ammonium sanitizer/disinfectant were also supplied.

Rebecca Contreras, production manager, said: “Partnering with Birko will allow us to better fulfill our mission and advance Garden Cut operations. We are focused on continual improvement, as well as exceeding all food safety recommendations and requirements.”

Indianapolis Fruit Company supplies grocers and retailers in more than 14 Midwestern states. Garden Cut, the specialty division, offers more than 400 varieties of fresh cut fruits and vegetables.

Birko partnered with Dunbar Foods Corp. last month to provide sanitation products to the canning production facility for Moody Dunbar.
