Turkey has opened its doors to feeder cattle imports to members of associations and cooperatives who have signed contracts for the animals with Turkey’s Meat and Milk Board (ESK).

The move is the result of a desire to increase the capacity of local producers, and will allow the import "of beef breeds, dual-purpose breeds or their cross-breeds". Dairy breeds and their crosses, however, will not be accepted,

Each animal must weight under 300kg, be under 12 months old and comply with the health and technical requirements specified by the Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Livestock. Applications will only be accepted from companies with at least 100 head of animals.
