Frontmatec supplies new cutting system to Atria

Denmark-based automation manufacturer Frontmatec, will provide an automated solution for new a cutting and deboning facility at a pig factory in Finland.

Frontmatec said it would install a Manufacturing Execution System (MES) to a facility in Nurmo, Finland, owned by Atria Plc.

Atria has facilities in Finland, Sweden, Russia, Denmark, and the Baltics, but the Nurmo factory has the largest pig slaughterhouse in the company.

According to Tapani Potka, senior vice-president delivery chain management at Atria Finland, the defined content of the MES system will ensure increased throughput, less manual work and make sure that there will be optimal process flow and also high reliability of deliveries to internal and external customers.

The MES solution that Frontmatec will deliver is based on the GOSystems platform, which is used in the Danish and Norwegian meat industries for the likes of Danish Crown and Tican.
