Catherine Cockcroft was invited to the committee based on expertise and over 20 years’ experience in microbiology.
Her position will enable her, on behalf of Exova, to help develop national and international Standards in water testing.
The committee’s mandate is to draft national standards of good practice for the UK, provide input into European and international Standards and ensure what is adopted in the UK is suitable for BSI needs.
Cockcroft said it was a ‘great privilege’ to be invited to join the BSI and its work to improve quality standards and public safety.
“With Exova, I have continued to build on my knowledge of food and water safety systems as well as microbiology test method development and validation,” she said.
Exova is a laboratory-based testing group, operating 142 labs and offices in 31 countries and employs around 4,400 people.
