Roka gets AOAC certification for Listeria environmental assay

Roka Bioscience has received AOAC certification for its Listeria Environmental detection assay.

The Atlas Listeria Environmental Detection Assay (Atlas LE Assay) has received AOAC Performance Tested Methods certification from the AOAC Research Institute (AOAC-RI).

The assay is approved for the detection of Listeria spp. (including Listeria monocytogenes, Listeria innocua, Listeria welshimeri, Listeria ivanovii, Listeria seeligeri, and Listeria grayi) from environmental surfaces (stainless steel grade 316, plastic (PVC), and sealed concrete) after a 24 hour enrichment.

Independent laboratory study testing was by Marshfield Food Safety, as part of the AOAC-RI independent third-party evaluation and validation processes.

"With recent events involving Listeria outbreaks we believe that environmental testing plays an important role for food safety," said Mary Duseau, chief commercial officer at Roka Bioscience.

Roka Bioscience’s Atlas Listeria monocytogenes LmG2 detection assay received AOAC Performance Tested Methods SM certification from AOAC-RI last year.

The firm was also awarded AOAC Performance Tested Methods SM certification for its E.coli O157:H7 assay in 2014.
