The detector system was first designed and installed in a bakery production facility in 2009, to satisfy requirements put forth by a customer.
Bakery, dairy & meat producers
The results of this installation exceeded expectation and as a result, Interceptor was further developed for a broad range of applications.
Steve Gidman, president, Fortress Technology, told FoodProductionDaily, the Interceptor gives bakery, dairy and meat producers, a cost effective alternative to x-ray technology.
“The Fortress Interceptor, effectively processes the transmission and reception of multiple frequencies continuously over a broad spectrum,” he said.
“It can improve detection capabilities of up to 100% with stainless steel, especially when inspecting traditionally difficult “wet” products.
Particular interest to food producers using metalized film
“This will be of particular interest to food producers using metalized film in their process or with products that create a challenging product effect.”
According to Gidman, the machine has been manufactured with a noise immunity structure, so the effects from external electrical noise have been dramatically reduced, lowering the occurrence of false rejects.
The North American firm has manufacturing offices in Canada, the UK, and Brazil, serving North America, Europe, Asia and Latin America.
“This simultaneous multi-frequency technology provides food producers, a cost effective alternative for their food safety programs,” added Gidman.
