To help cope with the challenge of keeping food refrigerated in the Middle East, Danfoss has developed a new controller, a valve station and improved products to add to its ADAP-KOOL family, to launch at this year’s Gulfood Manufacturing in Dubai (27-29 October).
“We have developed efficient refrigeration systems that enhance performance and reduce total life cycle costs for supermarkets and stores,” said Naveen Sivakumar, regional senior marketing manager at Danfoss.
“The solutions help to ensure fresh, healthy food and minimize the energy expenditure.”
By reducing downtime, lowering maintenance costs and operational expenditure, Danfoss estimates the new products make it possible to save up to 15-20% in energy costs compared to conventional cold stores.
“The ADAP-KOOL solution comprises a variety of control solutions especially developed for the optimization of refrigeration systems,” said Sivakumar. “By coordinating data to and from the individual refrigeration controllers, it aims to ensure healthy and sustainable stores and offers up to 33% energy saving in refrigeration systems alone. The data can include temperature data for logging and alarms, suction pressure and defrosting.”
Internet of Things
Danfoss recently acquired Dutch software company Advitronic Engineering B.V. in an effort to step up connectivity and involvement in the ‘Internet of Things’.
Henrik Schurmann, vice president of food retail at Danfoss Cooling, explained the acquisition. “Joining forces with Advitronic Engineering is an investment in capabilities related to Connectivity and Internet of Things, and this investment will strengthen our business and position within the food retail industry worldwide. The investment will provide us with an opportunity to position ourselves as a solution-oriented and innovative partner in smart store solutions and will further improve Danfoss’ enterprise management systems. Advitronic Engineering has developed products that enable capturing data from different products and control systems in supermarkets.”
Pim Melisse, general manager of Advitronic Engineering, added: “The growing interest among customers keen to take control of their own system performance has turned into a business. Together, Danfoss and Advitronic Engineering is a great match to lower operational cost and improve energy efficiency. Our partnership is a great win for the food retail industry and our customers.”
