Food Vision Asia 2016: Programme unveiled for event’s Asia debut
Taking place in Singapore from April 27-29, Food Vision Asia is a top-level industry event organised by the publisher of FoodNavigator-Asia, William Reed Business Media.
Already established with similar events in Cannes and Chicago, Food Vision will debut in Asia this year with food industry innovators, strategists and analysts to discuss market challenges, business opportunities and what today’s consumers really want.
This will be done through a series of presentations, debates and round-table discussions.
The extended programme has been informed by the expert editorial teams of FoodNavigator and NutraIngredients.
“In many areas across Asia, growth in the food and beverage market is outpacing the world and, across the region, it is changing rapidly as traditional eating habits evolve,” said event director, Christina Wood.
“Food Vision Asia will become a crucible of constructive debate that will help operators navigate that evolution in order to maximise growth opportunities.”
The core theme driving the agenda of the first Food Vision Asia will be “partnership for progress”.
“We’ll investigate opportunities for collaboration across the sector and across global geographies that have the potential to open up new markets and boost innovation”, said Wood.
“And we’ll put the spotlight on the intricacies of the Asian trading environment, charting the close relationships that exist between government and business, while providing the opportunity to meet with the lynchpin distributors who support market entry and expansion.”
The three-day agenda will feature plenary sessions relevant to all groups, and parallel streams drilling down into more specific aspects of food, drink and nutrition. Speed networking sessions will allow participants and attendees to make lasting connections.
“Food Vision’s agenda will be a powerful combination of innovation and commercial pragmatism. We’ll showcase innovations in food and nutrition that have passed the ‘that’s exciting’ test to achieve real world commercial success and learn from how they’ve done it.”
Featured among the speaker line-up are:
- Jack Sim, serial entrepreneur and multiple awards recipient, including Schwab Foundation Social, Time Magazine Hero of the Environment, Reader’s Digest Asian of the Year
- Anirban Mukhopadhyay, professor or marketing, and leading expert focusing on the interplay between consumers’ beliefs, emotions, and self-regulatory behaviour
- Dr Siti N. Abdul Malek, head of science and regulatory affairs at Food Industry Asia (FIA) and director of the Asean Food & Beverage Alliance (AFBA)
- Benny Shoham, chief executive and co-founder of GreenOnyx, the brand that is set to turn a little-known Asian aquatic vegetable into a globally available superfood
- Dr Regina Moench-Pfanner, world-expert on developing and implementing health programmes in emerging markets
- Lenz Moser, wine export expert and wine-making advisor to China’s leading producer, Changyu

The event will take place at Singapore’s five-star Grand Hyatt hotel within an exclusive event suite that combines business, networking and residential facilities.

Food Vision Asia is organised in partnership with leading industry names and is supported by DSM Nutritional Products, Cosucra and Wales.
In an effort to bring the industry’s decision-makers closer together, the event will coincide with the council meeting and sixth annual general meeting of Food Industry Asia (FIA), which will take place at the Food Vision venue on 27 April.
“FIA’s members include Asian and multi-national food suppliers, manufacturers and retailers from across Asia, and it has strong links with national food industry associations across Asia,” says Wood.
The industry body’s members will be invited to attend Food Vision. Equally, Food Vision Asia delegates who are not members of FIA, will be welcomed to the annual reception after the FIA AGM, extending their discovery and networking options.
Matt Kovac, executive director of FIA, said the partnership offers a great opportunity for Food Vision Asia participants to find out more about the work currently undertaken by FIA to promote the views of the food and drink industry in Asia to support the development of public policy, using science-based advocacy as its foundation, especially in the area of health and nutrition and trade.
