Adams Foods takes on Ornua name

UK-based Adams Foods and Adams Food Ingredients have changed their names to reflect their parent company, Ornua.  

Adams Foods will now be known as Ornua Foods and Adams Food Ingredients will become Ornua Nutrition Ingredients.  

Ornua Foods

Ornua Foods will continue to supply British and Irish cheddars and territorial cheeses to the UK retail market.  

With a turnover of more than £386m ($555m) in 2014, it supplies around 15% of all cheese consumed in the UK and more than 40% of the hard cheese sold in UK retailers.

Ornua Foods is the largest buyer of British cheese in the UK, and employs more than 670 staff at its cheese cutting and packaging plant in Leek, Staffordshire.

Ornua Nutrition Ingredients

Ornua Nutrition Ingredients supplies nutrition ingredients to the UK, European and global food industry.  With a turnover of about £35m ($50m) it focuses on delivering sourcing, blending, innovation and packing solutions.

It serves the dairy ingredients, bakery, breakfast cereals, health and wellbeing, and sports nutrition sectors.

Also based in Leek, it employs 120 people. Ornua said that there will be an investment of £1m ($1.4m) in the site in 2016.

Ornua investing in companies

John Jordan, chief executive of Ornua Foods Europe said, “Bringing our identity into line with that of the Group confirms Ornua’s commitment to being a leading supplier of British and Irish cheese to the UK market building upon our established relationships with major UK customers, suppliers and partners. 

“At the same time, it will enable both UK businesses and their staff to be more engaged with and more relevant to achieving Ornua’s vision of becoming a leading global dairy organization."

Ornua, which was previously known as the Irish Dairy Board, says that over the last seven years it has invested in the region of £75m ($108m) in establishing Ornua Foods and Ornua Nutrition Ingredients in their respective UK markets.
